Lights, Camera, Action…

Well this week has certainly kept me on my toes, from Celebrity Shoots to Creating the Perfect Wedding Dance, we’ve managed to squeeze a lot in these last few days!

We kicked off the week with having the lovely Helen Flanagan in for her latest shoot in Studio 6, as usual it went without a hitch ..(with our lips firmly sealed) meaning we got by without the paparazzi gathering in their usual droves.

We also started working with a couple for their First Wedding Dance Choreography, in fact it’s looking very different to the last one that we created for Matthew and Cerys. Did you see it? Here’s the finished video put together by Vip Studios UK – We really love it!

Lisa Massage has been doing her latest treatments flat out this week and I’ll tell you why – everyone has been raving about her ‘bellabaci cupping massage’…Quite literally HOT off the press this style of massage is said to drain excess fluids and toxins, loosen adhesion’s, lift the connective tissue and bring blood flow to tight muscles and skin. It improves the skin’s elasticity and improves muscle function.

This treatment can help alleviate tight or sore muscles, digestive disorders, headaches & migraines, cellulite, Stretch marks and many other conditions.

Treatments are…

£25 for 30 minutes
£35 for 60 minutes

…and the highly anticipated Anti-ageing cupping facial treatment is finally available at only £25 for 40 minutes…Hurrah say some of us! You can Call Lisa on 07858 036551 to book.

Mid week brought in the gorgeous Victoria Fox – Creator of Fox Toon Pin Ups for a glamorously creative shoot that showed off her latest work, what a talented and beautiful lady!

We have some very exciting Frozen statues on the way for our kids parties which we just cannot wait to share with you… More on this shortly!

Yesterday we had the lovely Willerton sisters in for a shoot. Yes we saw on twitter that Amy and Erin caused havoc on the train journey on the way here with their hilarious shenanigans which their fans seemed to love! We also loved the sizzling ‘selfies’ they kept posting from Studio 6 with one particular Instagram Selfie getting liked over 11,000 times
..

From Flashdance to Dirty Dancing You can book you and the girls in for a get together with a difference on 01792 643958

This weeks Saturday night shenanigans (as opposed to last weeks Dave the Bear luvin at the BSL) consisted of a blood eating plant by the name of Audrey 2 Swallowing our much loved Jay Smith up whole – what a delight! Guzzle Guzzle. Yes we took time out to visit the Gwyn Hall for Swappas performance of Little Shop of Horrors …and having been in it with the lovely Eve Myles and Steve Mayo all those years ago I knew all the words much to Mr’s amusement.

Were finishing up right now as the retro car show finishes up in town outside honk honk, with our brand new Sunday evening pregnancy yoga classes, and the soon to be mums are proper chilled out as we speak! Do you Fancy joining? Classes start on July the 6th visit womankindyoga.com – can we just say that Helen brings a whole new meaning to relaxation!

What’s to LOVE about Yoga?

For this weeks spotlight on, we caught up with Yoga teacher Lucy Constantini – who teaches dynamic yoga classes with us every Monday evening and Thursday morning…

So Lucy why do Yoga, Why is it so popular?

I do it because I love it! I feel it helps me be a better version of me but if you want to know the benefits I have found this piece is really good…

Image

What’s different about your classes?

I’m very specific in how I teach. Students get clear information on how to get into a pose and what to do once they get there! The Class is Dynamic and Challenging but adaptable to different bodies and injuries so is suitable for all levels. The point is the class should be challenging in a way that is appropriate for you and helps you develop your yoga practice – not put you off!

In quieter moments I like to tell the stories around the myths and philosophies of the poses to give students the sense of culture that yoga comes from. Knowing more about this tends to harness the imagination during practice… and makes it much more fun!

Give us an example?

Well..’Garudasana’ (which means eagle pose) – if you have a sense of Garuda’s wings emerging from your shoulder blades it makes things a lot more interesting.

What can I expect from attending one of your Yoga Classes?

We usually start with breath awareness whilst everyone settles into the class. You then move through a balanced sequence of Yoga postures (Asana), with clear alignment instruction to make sure your doing it correctly.

Each class builds on fundamental postures, gradually increasing the challenge then ending with restorative relaxation. By the end of class you should feel physically and mentally stretched – the reward for which is a deep sense of rest. Me…Ooooh!

What do you hope students gain from attending your classes?

My hope is that students gain the confidence and skill to practice some Yoga safely and effectively alone so that it can become a rewarding and enjoyable part of your daily life.

Have you been to India?

Yes between 2009 and 2013 I spent roughly a year in India. Most of my Asana (posture) studies took place in London, but in India I studied meditation and yoga philosophy whilst there, also training intensively in the South Indian martial art and massage system ‘Kalari’

Tell us more about you though Lucy…

Well..I am also a contemporary dancer where I currently perform with Carmarthenshire Theatres. I am also a student myself of the japanese martial art Aikido. This makes me gain a good understanding of the needs of others – be it through dance or sport and how yoga practice can help with these busy lifestyles.

OK …enough talking show us some moves!

WOW! thanks Lucy …we look forward to your classes!

Speaking of available studio services I’d love to share with you a recent quote that our hypnotherapist and Councillor Lynette recently posted which was…

nettie

How very true, what would it feel like to be free of ‘yesterday’s junk’?
Talking to a Therapist is a great way to work through the issues that might be holding you back or weighing you down. You can contact Lynette for a confidential appointment at the studios to talk through absolutely anything on 07720 849263 (She’s also great with Phobia’s from personal experience!)

Lisa ‘Massage’ as we know her took a well deserved day off treatments and popped into see us this weekend to indulge in a treatment herself by the Pink Flamingo team. While we had her on the couch (for a change) we thought we’d take time to ask her some questions we’d always wanted to ask!…

What type of clients do you work with/how would you describe what type of work you do?

I use various massage techniques to help alleviate muscular tension/issues. Primarily people come to see me for certain conditions but once they realize how relaxed/stress free they feel after treatment they continue having massage once condition is alleviated. I work with a variety of clients.  As well as my treatment room at Revue I also provide workplace massage at desks in call centres and offices.  A 15 minute massage helps ease the tension and prepare them for their work.  My clients range from 16 to 80+ with a variety of conditions from frozen shoulders and backache to headaches and stress.

Do you do any volunteer work in massage?

I volunteer monthly with Swansea carers centre providing free holistic therapies for carers It gives carers the chance to relax and have some “me” time away from their situation. The difference in carers when they leave the treatment room is amazing!!

So What do you do for fun?

I enjoy chilling out on the beach early morning before everyone else gets the same idea. I love taking pictures of the beach and just chilling out before the day starts. The beach is my place to unwind and think. I also love watching Doctor who, I am a geek!

What kind of books do you read?

My favorite author is James Herbert, my dislike of rats comes from the first book of his I read …chilled me to the bones! and I love the Harry Potter series, books on spirituality, Law of attraction and positive thinking. I don’t get to read as often as I used to since having my daughter and running a business!

What is the toughest part about being a massage therapist?

Wear and tear on the body. After 16 years as a massage therapist (…Phew!) I do suffer with a lot of aches and pains, RSI and tiredness but I wouldn’t swap it for any other job!

What type of clients are you most effective with?

There’s no definitive answer to this but I do find some clients react quicker to massage than others. Some people may only need one or two treatments and they feel a lot better, others take a lot longer!

How can we book an appointment with you? You can book an appointment with me by calling me on 07858 036551 (I have a City Centre treatment base at Revue)

Just some of the treatments I provide include Swedish Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Warm Bamboo Massage and Pregnancy Massage packages for a full treatment list you can also visit my website www.holistic-harmony.info

Thanks Lisa!

Watching the Little Shop of Horrors

love Little Shop!

Prop-Maker-Wales

While having a quiet night off last night, with a glass of well deserved wine and an Indian, I sat down to watch, The Little Shop of Horrors. I Havnt watching this film since I was a kid and needed to do some research on Audrey 2.

I Havnt to say, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I have to admit, I did fast forward a few of the songs, not Steve Martins of course, but the soppy love songs between Seymour and Audrey. I just can’t cope with that. The rest of the film was brilliant. How the hell did they get Audrey 2 to move like she does in the film. It was made in the early 80s. I’m so impressed.

So anyway, I did however do my research and take lots of photos of the colours they have used for Audrey 2…

This weeks roundup…

What have we been up to this week? Well… its been a busy one!

It all started with a rather peculiar commission from South Wales Academy of Performing Arts in the way of a rather rauncy man eating plant! Yes Managing Mischief Prop makers have been set the task of recreating Audrey II for Swappa’s forthcoming performance of the awesome ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ (June 10th-14th) at the Gwyn Hall in Neath Tickets are available via http://www.gwynhall.com

Here you can see it’s already coming together!

This weekend has been a particularly busy one with a joint frozen inspired themed birthday party for Phoebe and Fariba’s 6th birthday….there wasn’t a child that didn’t know every single word which I think could be heard down the street let alone the next studio, followed by a One direction fan getting their dream party inspired by the favorite band (we are yet to find a child who isn’t a fan)

Rebecca from Bespoke Wedding Creations let us into her unique world of stationary and props, and I planned my dream table with a very vintage affair who’s beautiful wares would be perfect for our vintage hen parties …so we will be in touch!

We also discovered some fabulous bunting supplies for the 1940’s Lindy/Jive nights (beginners classes starting back tomorrow evening at 7pm) The venue was beautifully dressed by panache and the view was pretty special!

Air drying Clay to Go please!!

The life of a Swansea Prop Maker…Game of thrones!

Prop-Maker-Wales

Today was my first attempt at using air drying clay. Wow I LOVE IT!!!!

It is so easy to use and once dried, it can be painted with normal paint. I bought some cheep acrylic crystals from Crafty Beggars and pushed them into the clay while it was wet. I made each hilt different from the designs from the Iron Throne and made a small hole at the bottom of the hilt for the blade to be inserted. I am itching to get back for my long studio shift tomorrow now. All I want to do is start adding them to the chair and make more. They are completely flat backed so they will sit against the back of the chair to make room for more.

Apparently there are 50 hilts or so just on the front and sides of the Iron Throne, so I have plenty more to make.

What a high to end our week…

Yes the Sun was shining and the SECRET was finally out, as I headed back up to my home town of Cwmllynfell last night to witness the Dance Spectacular that was ‘Cerys and Matthews’ First Dance….with a difference of course!

ot

Yup that’s right you should know by now that we don’t do things by halves when it comes to Wedding First Dance Choreography and so we just had to mix it up with some Eminem, Apache and of course MC Hammer na..na…nah …You Cant touch this!

And boy has it been a tough time keeping it a secret! The first rehearsal was a hoot (the first time ‘the boys’ had ever stepped foot into a dance studio we thinks) and what did they do? turn up with a stinking hangover half imagining that they were going to be step and click nuh uh, I had them sweating that alcohol out by busting the legendary 80’s moves…and you know what? the hangover was gone completely by the time they left the studios!

1920335_689462611095538_673666082_n

The next session went a lot better, as everyone knew that they were expected to be ‘Droppin it like it’s Hot’ and the whole bridal party, bridesmaids and ushers included finished up learning the running man!

Anyway yesterday was the BIG day and Dragon Events had done a fantastic job – Marquee, Bar, Tables you name it everything was perfect down to the last detail, and on top of all the nerves of the ceremony, there were a few others becoming a bit jittery as the night started to set in. Yes the crowd started gathering around the dance floor for ‘Cerys and Matthews’ gorgeous, romantic, First Dance to Christina Perri’s ‘A Thousand Years’ and just as they pulled each other close…

rt

BOOM there it was!

Eminem took over and on came the Ushers, after which a Dance Off soon ensued between Groom and Best Man …and the Bridesmaids started shaking their butts to MC Hammer!

After expectant Emily had told her other half Aled that she was at several dress fittings, (we gave her a small part!) poor Aled didn’t know what to do or where to look when she started busting out some moves, he thought he’d have to run and save her!

…and it was AWESUM! Huge Congrats to Cerys and Matthew – we’l be talking about it for a very long time and so Keep an eye on You Tube 😉

Hello Monday!

…Yes, it’s the beginning of a BRAND new week – and what a mighty few days were having to say goodbye to!

One of the things we loved most about this weekend, was that we got the chance to catch up with the lovely Lynette of

‘The Listening Helper’

Based in Studio 5, (The more tranquil side of the studios) Lynette provides us with our weekly dose of inspiration and Mindfulness to keep us sane on busy studio days… when were a little frazzled!

I personally love following her page as her daily inspiring quotes are a great reminder of how our thoughts determine our actions. You too can get inspiration here on her page www.facebook.com/listeninghelper

Image

Whilst on the subject of our Wellbeing area, we’ve had a lot of new studio members lately – and of course one of the perks of this is being able to treat yourself to a rare discounted treatment with ‘Lisa Massage’. Lisa is pretty booked up this week, but that’s not to say she won’t be able to squeeze you in at some point – check out her range of treatments over on her page www.facebook.com/holisticharmony

We’l be catching up with Lisa next week as part of our guest blog…Will she do one of her popular stress busting seated massage while we type? She MUST! Haha

Well just a quick one today as we’ve got so many classes to get through this week, we’l mainly be spotlighting our brand new yoga classes (which start with a taster class this evening!) We cant wait! Check out womankindyoga.com.

Were really looking forward to finding our inner peace after our usual #MM i.e Manic Mondays!

Plus of course our Monday night Lindy Hop/Jive Classes will be in full Swing from 7pm this evening… so if your looking for Classes in Swansea have a glance at the timetable at revuestudios.co.uk ….and come and join us!
