MYChoreograher – Personal training session, how did I get on?
Here’s how Jay got on with his first ever MyChoreographer personal training session with us!
So today I headed off nice and early to Revue Dance Studios in my local town of Swansea where the owner, Stacey, had offered me some free personal training sessions to help me along with my weight loss and healthy lifestyle journey, which is amazing and I really appreciated that.
The thought of spending an hour alone, in a space, with someone who I knew was going to work me hard kind of filled me with dread so I did what anyone else would do and tried to rope all my mates in, of course they found suitable excuses as to why they couldn’t attend, so I faced the fact it was just me…Alone…
So what is it? Well MYChoreographer is personal training but not as you know it, it’s a session with a dance choreographer which includes dance workouts, fitness exercises and also dance routines, even with a performing background…

Yoga Class FAQ’s…
Your always asking what Yoga classes should you choose, so we thought we’d take a quick 5 minutes to cover the various classes on offer here at Revue to help you to decide!
Here’s a little introduction to our Yoga Teachers…
First up is a Yoga Class most suitable if you like Stress relief, Calm, Serenity, Stretching, relaxation and generally want to do Yoga for Well being.
Following the traditional teachings of Gitananda Ashtanga Yoga, these women only classes are run by Helen here every Monday evening between 7-8.15pm and Pregnancy Yoga Classes run on Wednesdays at 7pm
The classes aim to help women discover inner peace, balance and true relaxation through classical hatha yoga (asana), pranayama (breath work) and meditation.
Class Cost: £7 Drop in or £6 (when you block book 8 Classes) Please bring your own yoga mat, blanket (highly recommended!) and wear loose comfortable clothing

Perhaps If your a Dancer and more interested in Yoga practice for posture and poise then Chris’s Iyengar Class is likely to be for you.
You can register your interest for upcoming classes by emailing info@revuestudios.co.uk
Chris has been teaching Iyengar Yoga for over 27 years. His classes focus on alignment of the body through a graduated sequence of postures. The practice of yoga asanas encourages the body to become stronger and more flexible.
Classes consist of simple exercises gradually moving towards the more advanced postures, this is followed by 10 minutes relaxation and breathing techniques giving freedom from stress and tension.

Yep lastly if you have yet to find a yoga class suited to you, and perhaps are looking for more of a flexibility class, then Stretchii lunchtime classes would be perfect for you,

Born to Hand Jive…
This weekends gaggle of Hens certainly were that’s for sure! Yes we got all ‘Greased’ Up for Sam’s Swansea Hen, and what a ball we had! They all arrived into Wind St in style…
Then of course we got them straight into the studio to get them ‘Womp Bamm Boooing’ around the Dance Studio… after a few glasses of bubbles of course!…
Yes, a jolly good time was had and the Rock and Roll frocks came out for the after…(after) party on Wind Street with all the girls looking Glam. So Glad they enjoyed the whole Studio experience with us!
Of course whilst all this was going on, outside in Castle Square – The Swansea Street and Skate Festival was taking place, kicked off by our very own Hip Hop Choreographer Nathan Sheppard.
Much to everyone’s delight, the rain stayed away and so a great afternoon was put on by Swansea’s City Events Team showcasing Swansea’s Street Dance Scene – with Heart FM, including Dancers from Dani Dee’s, TDM’s, A3’s Arnold Matsena, Ricky George, Parkour displays, Wheres Wally, Brothers, Fast Fuse and Paige Barrington as well as of course Revue Studios
And going to back to party mode, it’s not just Adult Parties we’ve been hosting, one of this weekends Superstar Kids Parties was a 1D inspired party for Holly’s 8th Birthday.
Yes Holly and her friends had a Dance Studio to themselves working with a personal choreographer to get them dancing just like ‘One Direction’s’ Backing Dancers – They worked up such an appetite that a Mcdonalds was an absolute must for them, and after finishing with Cake and Happy Birthday, everyone left with tired smiles …and their much loved 1D party bags!

Dancing in the Streets…
Well what a fantastic weekend of Dance – Swansea City Centre has seen this weekend, thanks of course to Taliesin Dance Days.
It was great to see lots of our regular studio users in performance mode, including Jamie of C-12 Dance and his fellow dancers in the outstanding performance we saw of ‘Trolleys’ – if like us you caught this piece, you will never look at a supermarket shop in the same way ever again!
We also managed to catch the beautiful Amrita and her Kathak performance down in the National Waterfront Museum. After rehearsing with us on a daily basis for weeks on end, with such focus and attention to detail – it was amazing to get to see the stunning visual outcome. It really drew a crowd full of praise. In fact we are happy to announce that Amrita is going to be sharing her experience …(since the age of five!) by holding traditional Indian style Kathak Classes here at Revue Studios, if this is something you think you would be interested in learning you can register via info@revuestudios.co.uk
What a joy to see the much loved ‘Two Bessies’ and their little pull along doggie of course! The ‘Immaculate Men’ changed the whole concept of Wind St (quite literally cleaning up their act!) break dancing over a road sweeper to lots of jaw dropping staring passers by. We actually bolted down the studio stairs after getting a birds eye view and then followed them onto Castle Square!
Unfortunately we didn’t manage to get to see everyone as the studios were fully booked from morning till late but we heard that Being Frank, Douglas Comley, County Youth Dance Company, Market Stall, Kitsch & Sync, Stuck in the Mud, Dani Dee, …and we briefly caught the fabulous Time for Tea duo, of whom Daniel Baird commented that we were among the best studios he had come across the country for facilities – this was a fantastic compliment to receive, flying the flag for Swansea.
A huge thank you to the Taliesin for another year of fantastic Dance performances in unique Swansea spaces.
We’d also like to give a huge shout out to all our burlesque newbies that took part in this weekends bluestocking lounge showcase, a huge leap of progress! Classes are now in full Swing with the lovely Lilly Laudanum more information can be found on the website bluestockinglounge.com
…And so we begin another week! We’ve got Jam packed Classes coming up for both adults and kids everything from Ballet to Street (don’t forget we don’t break for half terms our classes run all year round) so keep an eye on our Facebook page for this weeks timetable.

Well it looks like we’ve been sparking rumors again with Helen coming in for her latest shoot.
We read that due to posting a picture of herself whilst out and about in Swansea, that it set off lots of theories that Scott would be making a return to Swansea, Oh dear! Were not sure about that one, but we do know that a fabulous 2 days of shooting was had here @Revue!
Speaking of controversy, we have recently gone against the notion that Men can’t dance (with both our Hip Hop Group lessons and 1-2-1 tuition) with Nathan breaking some real boundaries. Yep Nathan has been inundated with middle age men taking to ditching the stigma you’d think would be attached to a dance studio and booking Private Dance lessons – JUST because they’ve always wanted to. GOAL!
Last Night with a ‘better late than never approach’ Nathan showed one of his guys beginners bboying, top rocks the works…and came away seeing some serious motivated potential – watch this space!
Speaking of Hip Hop, were about to put 6 x new couples through some serious rehearsals over the next few weeks with full on ‘Bootyshaking’ on their wedding night…were not saying anything more…yet…Its TOP SECRET!

Yes, the Revue Creative Summer Social got off to a mouthwatering start, we’d love to show you the videos, but let’s keep it at – you had to be there!

As for the Watermelon…it survived a night on Wind St and was returned safely by ‘Tarzan’ the following morning where we all cured our hangovers with huge fresh juicy chunks of melon..Mmm!
